Background and Importance for You

Coaching has moved well beyond a management fad—it has been a growing area of personal, professional and organizational development since the early 1990’s. It is now one of the largest areas of Leadership Development and Organisational Development spending in modern organizations. Both Consumers and practitioners are expressing a clear need and desire for the professionalization of the coaching industry—to ensure that coaching is able to meet the needs of the individuals and businesses into the future.

The GCC is a year long process in which all the key stakeholders in coaching (consumers, practitioners, educators and industry bodies) will be gathering together to discuss the difficult issues facing us in professionalizing coaching. It is a world-wide collaborative dialogue that seeks to understand the needs of coaching consumers, practitioners and educators in order to develop commonly agreed understandings, guidelines and frameworks for the practice of coaching and the training of coaches. Your participation and support gives you a voice in developing a key service to better meet your needs.

How can you contribute?

In order to accomplish these aims, we need organizations to both participate in and sponsor this initiative. Your financial contribution will make the GCC possible; your participation will make it effective!

Active Participation
There are two levels of active participation
Working group member (please note - expressions of interest closes on Friday 3rd August 2007)
Wider consultation group member
The topics of the working groups and descriptions of the roles of working group and consultation group members appear at the end of this letter.

Financial Sponsorship
We are encouraging organizations and individuals to give financial resources to help underwrite the face to face meetings and the year long online efforts of the working groups. There are significant costs associated with staging a global event of this magnitude. The following pages show the variety of ways you might contribute financially to the GCC. We are also happy to discuss any other suggestions you might have for sponsorship.
